Our student body is the heart of Al-Hikmah Institute and the driving force behind it's vision. Commencement of the Worshiper

This primer fiqh course is based on a concise manual of worship according to the juristic school of the great Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal entitled, Commencement of the Worshiper & Sufficiency of the Ascetic / بداية العابد وكفاية الزاهد by Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Aḥmad al-Ḥalabi al-Damishqī al-Ḥanbalī. Supporting commentary and explanation are based on the author's own explanation entitled The Seeker's Obtainment of the Principle Objectives / بلوغ القاصد جل المقاصد or some other relative Hanabli text.

Essay/Project Assignment

Students may choose a topic of interest related to the overall subject of this course and complete a 1.5-2 page essay as a part of their final grade. Essay topics and outlines must be approved by the instructor and written in standard format with introduction, body, and conclusion.  Students are required to site a minimum of 3 reliable references to receive full credit.  Students may also complete a project such as a like-professional poster or chart for any of the topics covered in the course text for display in centers and masjids.
